The invention relates to a wastewater sampling device for taking a measurement sample from wastewater. The wastewater sampling device comprises a vertical through-flow pipe, through which the wastewater flows against the force of gravity, and a sampling probe arranged coaxially in the through-flow pipe. The sampling probe comprises a probe housing, which has a purging-gas inlet, through which a purging gas can be pumped into the interior of the probe housing. At the lower distal end of the probe housing, a substantially cylindrical filter element is arranged, by means of which wastewater is filtered and can flow into the probe housing or purging gas can flow out of the probe housing. With the aid of the purging gas, the filter element is cleaned and a solid particle layer adhering to the filter element is removed as needed or regularly. Furthermore, a sampling line is arranged inside the probe housing and a measurement sample can be pumped from the filtered wastewater through the line opening of said sampling line, thus avoiding pressure fluctuation and ensuring that the extd. sample vol. is always accurate and equal.
